Application Overview

The following are applicaiton materials for this dual degree:

  • Portfolio – For candidates with a background in design for the built environment (architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, or similar degree) who are applying for advanced standing, a portfolio is required. For candidates from other backgrounds, a visual representation of your creative or technical work is encouraged, but not required. A portfolio can consist of creative work, such as design projects, artworks, or creative writing, or technical work, such as academic research, technical papers, or engineering field work. The point of a portfolio is to get a sense of the type of work you are engaged with, and what types of mediums (design, art, engineering solutions, research papers, field work) interest you.
  • Personal Statement – The Personal Statement provides reviewers with a critical understanding of the applicant’s background and creative interests. The prompt will be provided on the application.
  • Transcript – Unofficial copies are acceptable during the application process. If admitted into the program, an official transcript is required from the sending institution prior to beginning your program of study.
  • Letters of Recommendation – This program requires two professional references from individuals acquainted with your recent academic, professional, or creative work. If still working toward an undergraduate degree or recently graduated, at least one reference should be from past professors who can speak directly about your performance in a class or research project.
  • Resume or CV – Include a resume or CV outlining previous work and educational experience, as well as any relevant skills or technical knowledge.
  • ESL Proficiency Requirement – International applicants must submit English Proficiency exam scores. This program only accepts a minimum score of 90 from TOEFL or minimum band score of 7 for IELTS. This requirement is waived for students who have successfully completed at least one year of study at an English-speaking institution.
